QuickTime for Microsoft Windows is downloadable as a standalone installation, and was bundled with Apple's iTunes prior to iTunes 10.5, but is no longer supported and therefore security vulnerabilities will no longer be patched.

Once I uninstalled the current version, the older version installed and I was able to install the latest version of QuickTime. To install this version of vcredist for VS2005, I had to first uninstall the VC 2005 redist in order to install the older version. I had a more recent Visual Studios 2005 installed and the linked too vcredist would not install because of the current version installation. There is an issue however when installing the linked to vcredist which is for Visual Studios 2005.

I am running Windows 7 圆4 and this issue occurs every time there is an attempt to update to the latest QuickTime Player. Thank you for the solution to this problem. Older systems will likely have the redist installed, as part of other packages, and unaffected.

Users with brand new Windows 10 64 bit systems will likely come across this error if they install Quicktime first. It would be pleasent is somebody at Apple could update the Quicktime installer. Note that I had to install both the 64bit version (which did not work) AND the 32bit version (which then did work). The Visual C 80 CRT can be downloaded from Microsoft here: Also note I suspect it actually needs the 32bit version. This file is missing from the installer and so you need to install it externally. The missing file is actually Microsoft VC80 CRT version 7.6195 This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package. The file 'ul_catalog.98CB24AD_52FB_DB5F_FF1F_C8B3B9A1E18E' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'QuickTime.cab'. Running the installer with verbose logging revealed the following: Had a very cryptic message about how it was missing ul_catalog.98CB24AD_52FB_DB5F_FF1F_C8B3B9A1E18E from the cab file. Just as an FYI I had failed to install Quicktime on Windows 10 64bit.
